About the project

Preparation of a strategic knowledge report based on the experiences, reflections, and proposals generated during the 5th World Forum on Cities and Territories of Peace (Montevideo, May 2025). The publication synthesizes the Forum’s key lessons on territorial peace, social cohesion, local governance, human rights, and care policies, translating them into practical and accessible guidance for local governments and professionals working in decentralized cooperation.

Challenge

The 5th World Forum on Cities and Territories of Peace generated a significant body of knowledge, experiences, and proposals with considerable value for territorial peacebuilding, social cohesion, and non-violence initiatives. Without a dedicated effort to capture, synthesize, and disseminate these contributions, there was a risk that this knowledge would become fragmented and its long-term value diminished.

Approach

The project was delivered in five phases: a review of the Forum’s reports and supporting materials; a thematic analysis of its main areas of discussion; the identification and synthesis of good practices and innovative approaches presented during the event; the development of a narrative and editorial structure tailored to the target audiences; and the production of the final strategic report, including recommendations to strengthen policy influence and decentralized cooperation.

Impact

Ensure the Forum’s legacy by making the knowledge and lessons from its fifth edition accessible to local and international stakeholders.
